Hi all

My lovely well behaved 9 month old boy has started nursery. He been going for 2 weeks and my partner and I have noticed a marked change in his behavior. He screams and arches his back every single time we place him in his high and never finishes his food when before we always had fun during a feed he just seems miserable. The same with changing or playing.

I have spoken to his key worker about this and she says he is happy and really easy going at nursery. When I pick him up he seems fine but I am really worried.

HELP

Thanks

may be his way of dealing with the settling in at nursery and will hopefully pass quite quickly. However, it may just be his age and completely unrelated to nursery. My ds was incredible difficult and wanting his independance at 9 months, any forms of being 'strapped in' or 'restricted' in anyway resulted in back arching, sobbing tears and flailing arms. Also began to be a fussy eater at this age too. Could be teeth or just rgular fussiness that sets in with most kids. It's a phase... it will pass. xxx

Thanks Meandjoe I was starting to feel worried. My mum agrees with you it is probably his way of dealing with nursery. Feeling better cheers

My DD didn't go to nursery till about 13mths and we had this behaviour from around the same time (9mths - 10mths) - I'm afraid it's all part of the developing process. My DD is now 20 mths and we still have issues with the carseat, push chair, nappy change and high chair.

Please don't worry to much about it - it's normal.
