behaviour at school

My year 1 DS has been struggling with his behaviour this year. Today he was under the table shouting in class. In reception he was happy and settled, but this year has had more problems sitting on carpet, doing what he is told etc. I talk with him about what has happened and make sure I deprive him of something at home eg treat or an activity he wants to do such as skateboarding. He does need firm boundaries at home and can be stubborn but I feel I am constantly on his back at the moment and do not want him to think his behaviour is ok. Feeling a bit worried I am not doing the right things to support him - any ideas out there gratefully recieved!

Are they dealing with his behaviour at the time? If so I don't understtand why you are additionally punishing him at home?

Talk to his teachers, find out what the triggers are, talk to him and ask if there is anything he is unhappy with at school.

At first I thought it was because he was finding reading etc difficult, but that has taken off now and he has started saying he doesnt have anyone to play with, which i picked up with his teacher who says he is very popular and always playing with other children, I admit he does need firm boundaries at home. I take something from him at home so he understands that I want him to do what he is told at school

I do think you have a point about if the teacher has dealt with it at school, then i should leave it there

Sorry, don't mean to sound patronising but he won't understand a punishment at home means he must behave at school.

Talk to his teachers and ask specifically what happened before his behaviour at school.
