who cares about the spelling, but its rather off putting when she is constantly fiddling.

DT2 has always got his hand down his nappy. DD2 was a major fiddler. I told her that she should wait til bedtime or pop off to her room. She wouldn't go to her room cos she wanted to be with us and would usually forget by bedtime. Of course she would regularly pop off to her room and it took her a long time to outgrow it.

DS1 used to pull his to see if he could make it go over his head. DH would cry every time. DS1 would be mortified if he read this. lol

DD2 has been doing this avidly since about 18 months. She's 4 next month. Not just fiddling, but she will sit on the arm of the chair, rocking back and forth. Have tried every strategy to discourage it - ignoring, telling her to stop, telling her to wait til she's in bed.... Nothing has any effect. It happens more when she's tired or bored.

It's reassuring to hear other people's kids are "at it" as my other daughter doesn't and it's viewed very dimly by DH's family. They are always telling her to stop. DH's dad tells her to put her hands on her head. They are always getting on at me too saying people will think she's strange and what will happen when she goes to school? Comments such as "that's disgusting/dirty/not nice" have been passed.

Really hoping she will grow out of it!

MarsLady · 12/08/2005 00:49

she will. DD2 stopped when she was about 4.5

Gillian76 · 12/08/2005 00:51

Not long to go, then ML !

MarsLady · 12/08/2005 00:54

I've got to keep an eye on my DTs. DT2 already lives with his hands down his nappy. They are 18m and DT1 hasn't noticed hers at all.

Oh, Gillian that's too bad about your dh's family. I'm rather glad that your dd isn't paying any attention to them

As soon as ds "discovered" his penis I made sure that he had at least 30 minutes after bath each night to just run around naked and look at/explore his whole body if that's what he wanted to do. I wish people would be more laid back about it because that's really all it is, just curiousity and exploration that also happens to feel nice

Glash28 · 14/08/2005 18:43

My son constantly has his hand down there when his nappy is off but I don't dis-courage it. Let's face it, the grown-up boys still do it now so nothing we say is going to make the slightest bit of difference! Trouble is my 4 year old daughter seems quite interested in it aswell because it grows!

Twiglett · 14/08/2005 18:47

dd (15 months) keeps trying to pull DS's (4.5) willy

DS finds this hysterically funny and tries to encourage her

now if only I could find the right words to stop that little game, I'd be a happier mummy

serah · 14/08/2005 20:31

Oh my, this is one of the funniest threads I have read in ages!

My DS grabs at his willy and scrotum in the bath and stretches them as far as (I hope) they will go. Not sure that he actually likes it (as yet), more that he's discovered it!

Mine had a hideous game called the 'willy guitar'. Years later they can still bring me out in hives just singing the twangy soundrack they used to accompany it with.

Satine · 14/08/2005 20:37

My ds (2.11) has developed the charming habit of pulling his foreskin back and waggling the resultant spectacle enthusiastically, shouting at me to look. If he doesn't grow out of it he'll have to join a rugby team. Most worring though is the way his sister (1.3) thinks it's the funniest thing she's ever seen

Caligula · 14/08/2005 20:40

This thread is so funny. The bridge and teh guitar are classics...

henshake · 14/08/2005 20:53

I'm cracked up laughing. My DD doesn't really do anything at the moment and my DS is only 9mths. However, his only looks like a button at the moment, so perhaps if it doesn't grow & he starts to realise then I may be bringing this thread back to life in a couple of years.

It's good to know all kids are the same. Don't know about girls but DS1 loves stretching his to unfeasible lengths. I keep telling him to stop it, mainly becuase it makes my eyes water and I'm scared he'll hurt himself! DS2 (16 m)has his hands down his nappy most of the time and as soon as I take it off to change him his hands are down ther, fiddling away. The only thing I feel slightly uncomfortable about is that they play with each others' in the bath. DS1 knows I don't like it bu his riposte is "but he likes it, mummy!"

The group of boys DS1(5) hangs out with at school are all obsessed with their willies and bottoms.

I have a friend whose DS announced "Mummy, when I rub my willy, it grows!" to which she responded, "does it really Darling? Can you try it with your fingers?"

At least twenty minutes were spent ascertaining that it doesn't work with fingers, and he is presently working his way through all the body parts to see if it works with anything else...

Twiglett · 14/08/2005 21:59

this is driving me mad .. I keep looking at the thread title thinking I know that's spelt wrong, but how do you spell it? arrrgghhh

motherinferior · 14/08/2005 22:00

MastURbator.

Since you ask.

Twiglett · 14/08/2005 22:00

still looks wrong though (spelling I mean)

motherinferior · 14/08/2005 22:01

Well, you could Google it. But I think perhaps you'd better not.
