Moving toddler from a cot to a bed - should I stop using a grobag?

New baby is due in a month and we weren't planning to move DD (21 months) into a bed for a while.

However, she's always been very tall and has shot up in the last couple of weeks. I realised today that there's a good chance of her being able to climb out of her cot soon and I'd rather move her now than be forced to do it with a newborn.

Haven't really researched this subject at all though, was wasn't planning to do it so soon but now want it done this weekend.

Can I use a grobag still with her in the bed? Or is this a bad idea in case she trips? I just wonder if the bed and getting used to covers will be too much at once.

Also, we have a bed rail, shall I use that or is it safer without (having visions of her trying to climb over it).

Been really dreading this stage as DD sleeps so well 7-8 every night and I need my sleep!

The best thing to move on to is a gro duvet as it zips up at the sides so keeps them in the middle - I would have thought a gro bag would be a bit dangerous as she might attempt to move out of the bed whilst in it - and fall over. We have one of the gro duvets and it's brilliant, helps them feel a bit more secure than just going into a normal pillow and duvet and means the covers stay on overnight.

We are still using a grobag now she is in a bed, otherwise she sees bedtime as a joke and keeps getting out! With her grobag on she 99% of the time just goes to sleep, even if not straight away she doesn't get out of bed... then just shouts for us in the morning... saying that when we haven't got to her quick enough she has just taken her grobag off and got a toy out! Made the transition MUCH easier as only changing the one thing, rather than both!
