Trainer pants...

.... what's the point of them?

SIL's just given me 2 packs of them. What are they for?!? We're just starting to toilet train DS but I had planned just to put him in normal pants... is this a massive potty faux pas?!?

Any advice gratefully received.

Clueless of Nappyland.

i was going to come on and say they're pointless! lol

normal pants are fine. trainer pants are too much like a nappy imo!

I'm vay confused by the whole thing.

I did try them earlier. They are a lot baggier than normal pants, which I can see is a mixed blessing.

He did a wee in them and I have to say I think it went just as far as usual (maybe very marginally less but only a tiny bit)

So am still clueless. However, since I suspect we are going to get through a lot of pants this weekend, I'll keep trying!

the only idea for trainer pants was that the child when wet from wee doesn't like it and the plastic is to stop it escaping down legs over clothes. It is to help child realise about weeing and then i.e. to go to the loo.!!

I liked trainer pants, they are not like a nappy, they are made of material with plastic in between so the child does feel wet and uncomfortable. It does stop accidents on the floor and less work for you. I also find them more reasuring when i am out and about as they are more absorbant. They are good for starting out with.

OK, thanks, that's helpful. I will give them another go this afternoon then!
