8 mth DS flipping in cot & getting stuck! Any ideas?

DS has gone down this evening as always on his back. It seems he's taken to wanting to sleep on his side since last night.
The problem is, all evening he's been not only turning to his side, but flipping right over & is clearly not comfy on his front. It wakes him & he then has to call out to get moved onto his back again.
(Hasn't managed to master the complete art of the rolling thing yet!)
Anyone got any ideas so I can avoid being up all night doing "turning duty"?

I think by 8 months its safe to leave him be.

or perhaps roll up towels into 'logs' place under sheet and put him in a grow bag??

Sorry for the delay....."Turning" once again!!
I would leave him, but he starts grizzling & cries if not jumped at IFKWIM.
He does normally have a grobag, but it's been so warm lately he was waking up too hot, so until I can get out to buy a lighter one, he's just been in night clothes & a blanket.
Must say though I'm sure you're right & I think i'd best get down to shops tomorrow & jolly well make a purchase!
& until then.....best hubby don't get too comfy on the pillow tonight.

My DS is the same, we tried the 'wedges' you can get but he moved them around with him. Even in a gro bag he has his feet over the edge of the rails and has started getting stuck on his stomach under the cot mobile box (I actually sat and watched him the other night do a 180 in about 30 seconds using the cot rails and flinging his legs in the air together and slamming them down to move himself around). I position him about a half baby width from the side of the cot (the cot side has a thin cot bumper with pictures on)and turn him to face the pictures (he likes looking at the snail and strokes it).... there isn't enough roon for him to flip onto his stomach but he is sort of wedged and stays there. Seems to work for now anyway. Good luck!

Well TTBMP, it was a nightmare night!
I tried the grobag & he still kept flipping & crying out to get turned back over.
I tried leaving him for a min or so to try & get himself back over, but I'm sure he knew thats what I was doing & made funny noises so I rushed to him, thinking he was in trouble! (he wasn't, just on his front again.)
DH & I ended up putting him in our bed for the night.
...Funnily, he didn't roll over anymore, slept through (V. UNUSUAL) & had no difficulty whatsoever!!!!!!
We didn't sleep much. Typical!
Good Idea Chelly, Think I'll try that too. I've just put him down for the night & he started rolling over. tried wedging him with a rolled blanket. (He managed to get it out of the way.) He's on his side at the mo & asleep, so we'll see how it goes.
