So dd has started teething. For the past 4 weeks we've had the red face the copious drool and the crankiness, and in the last week or so, two tiny white dots have appeared where her front lower teeth will be. Phew, I thought, here they come. Yesterday she was having a scream i the push chair (joy) so I sat down on the floor to give her a hug. As she threw her head back for a massive bellow I saw it- big, white and on it's way. I checked and it's matching pair is also making it's way down. Surely top molars shouldn't be here at all yet- isn't that in about a year and a half? Poor dd, she's been so sad and now I can see why. Any advice for soothing other than baby powders, chamomilla and calgel? She's spending so much time on the boob it's hard to leave the house and it's so heartbreaking watching her.

I didn't find powders & gels helped at all. Only Calpol or Baby Nurofen.

Are you sure the white patches are teeth? I only ask because white patches in the mouth (especially far back where it's hard to see) can be thrush. We found Calpol was the only thing that helped too.

Calpol does absolutely nothing for DS when teething, so if it doesn't help try neurofen instead.

also thought about thrush. are you BF? do you have any symptoms?

My DS got white molar 'shadows' around this age, I could see them quite clearly and feel the bump of them but they didn't cut through until the usual time.
