Is this small change enough to continue overnight training in 6yo?

ds has just turned 6 and is a really deep sleeper.

We have decided to try and stop wearing pj pants overnight. We tried a couple of months ago and gave up after 8 days of waking up soaking at his normal time. So he was sleeping through peeing and being wet for goodness knows how long.

This time round - he pees - but then wakes up.

Night 1 - pee at 12, woke up, fresh pjs on and dry until 7.30am.

Night 2 - pee at 12.30, woke up, fresh pjs on and dry until 7.30am

Night 3 pee at 5.30am, woke up, fresh pjs on and dry until 7.30am.

Is it worth continuing since he is actually waking up after he's peed?

or is he just not ready to go a full night yet?

Wow! Last night, ds1 insisted on peeing into a measuring jug and produced a whopping 240ml of wee. And the same again first thing this morning (whilst also waking up in a soaking wet bed). Clearly practising holding on a bit longer can be successful (albeit possibly not all the time, as fruit juice seems to make him need to wee all the time, unlike milk or water...), but he's still producing too much wee to hold on all night, anyway... I think I'm stuck with the measuring jug thing for the time being, though, as ds1 clearly enjoys the challenge!!!!! I hope he doesn't now start to hold on TOO long, or we'll have to start nagging him to go to the loo sooner, instead! I feel a lot happier about it now, though, as I feel we might have broken the cycle of peeing too often that started up after he got repeated balanitis infections last year.

Gosh - thats loads of wee! Majority of time for ds it's 110ml - with the very odd 180ml.

He had a dry night on Friday night - got up first thing and pee'd about 150ml in the jug, but last night - had a 12 hour sleep and so woke up to a soaking bed - but think he had just had the wee at the wake up time - so think he can prob hold in most of the night if he has his normal 10 hour sleep.

So toss up to let him sleep as long as he needs = wet bed sometimes , or wake him at 10 hours sleep and hustle him to the loo.

I hate waking him - reckon if he's sleeping its cos he needs it.

Ho hum, bought some new sheets from Asda so I don't have to do the washing too often.
