How do I stop her?

am sick of it,

She climbs onto the TV stand, climbs up the highchair and stands on the tray!!

Climbs on the couch and runs along it. She fell off it yesterday flat on her face, didn't deter her.

I am sick of spending every 4th minute pulling her down from something.

I can't even keep her in her buggy or highchair as she escapes!!

Her brothers were never this bad!!

He he he he, can't help but giggle at your post. My ds was exactly the same, hurting himself never deterred him either. My dd is 11 months, been crawling for 4 weeks and looks like she's going to be the same but fingers crossed not as bad. I have no advice just sympathy lol

aw She will grow out of it! My 15 month old is always climbing on top of the chest of drawers, trying to get upt to the top bunk of his brother's beds, climbing to the top of the sofa etc then standing there dancing.

You have a very physically capable child, with great coordination bags of energy and an advernturous spirit.

Aren't we lucky

p.s my four year old was like this as well as a one year old, he now jumps from the table to the sofa etc he's not changed alot but it's less often and he can't really fall off now

Ha - i had to reply as my 15 month old is exactly the same. It is all she is interested in!

Any group we go to, she is in the corner of the room trying to climb the chairs etc. At home, if i leave her for a second she tries to climb the shelves. it's driving me mad too - you are not alone.

She is also undeterred by the several falls she has had - she has a cut and a bruise on her face at the moment from climbing.

Oh dear.

Good luck with it - the only solution is the usual: distraction!

I feel your pain, DS is also 16mo and climbs everything. He climbs onto the dining table, climbs his highchair like its a ladder, climbs into/out of the bath in the blink of an eye(sometimes while its still running). Gets on the coffee table to reach the TV.

It is exhausting. No advice, my DD was an early walker but but didn't climb excessively so I guess we have have to wait til they are a little less lethal impulsive

I have a climber too.

I think the best thing you can do is give them loads of practice so they are at least a little safer. And move dangerous things. All our books are now in cupboards with doors, and shelves have been placed behind the sofa. The windows she can reach are locked, and I've left a chair or box by each window she likes to look out to stop her balancing on the window sill.

She's 2 now, and has finally got the hang of not climbing onto tables, and is good enough for me to not need to worry about her falling around the house. Though she can almost make it up on top of her sisters highbed without using the ladder!

My youngest son walked at 8 months, was already climbing 2 metres climbing frames at 10months and was up 10m trees by 2 - At 8 years he still absails around the walls, bansters and seems to have difficulty holding a conservation without jumping on (or over something)

Best advice is - relax, don't say 'get down you'll hurt yourself' - this undermines their confidence - so lots of wow, aren't you clever, now can you come down... also let him know when it isn't appropriate to climb - ie don't climb at school/aunty's because the teachers/aunty will be scared you'll fall - and will tell you off; better save it for for playground later...

Oh - and most climbing clubs accept members from 5...
