2.5 year old getting opposited mixed up?

My 2.5 year old daughter is speaking fluently now, has very good speach/understanding. Just one thing that I keep noticing is she gets mixed up regularly, she will say up when she means down, big when she means small, closed when she means open etc, is this just part of learning to speak or could it mean anything else?

I bought my son an Opposites game which has worked really well with his speech and understanding, not that he had this specific problem.

I would maybe try that first, there are some examples here Opposites games

Good Luck!

I think, iirc, that this can be one of the indicators for dyslexia.

however I'm not saying your dd has this, I just think I remember this as one of the possible indicators on a dyslexia checklist.

My ds is dyslexic but didn't do this, btw!

If this were me I think I would file away this in the back of my mind but just keep a weather eye on her to see if there are any other things that stand out as slightly 'different'

She's very young yet of course and lots of indicators for dyslexia are normal things for kids of this age so it will be a good while yet before anything became more obvious, I guess.

Thank you both for your very helpful responses. I will try the opposites game thank you and see how she gets on with that and I did wonder if it might be an indicator for something so I will, like you say, put it to the back of my mind and see if she grows out of it in time as she develops but if not I will know where to start looking for more information. Thank you.
