Improving diction in a 5 yr old

Any suggestions on how I could improve my son's diction? He has slight glue ear and was a late speaker, and although he can talk OK and the glue ear is clearing, his diction is not as clear as it could be - substituting m/b sounds, n/d and f/th.

Are there any simple exercises that anyone could recommend to help him? At the moment I'm just correcting him as we go along, but I'd rather make it fun but more low key, rather than interrupting him when he's trying to talk!

Just practicing the sounds everyday obviously helps, but to make it more fun is hard. I guess he is in reception at school? Waterstones and alike have some fab phonics flash cards with pictures that help kids with reading and spelling but you could always sound them out with him?
Also a fun voice excercise from college was to say phonically p, b and feel it on your lips, t,d at the front of your mouth, k, g in the middle, followed by ung at the back. Weird to write down but try it and you will see how it gives awareness of where that sound is created in the mouth? I hope thats helpful xxxx

That is great, thanks. It is just trying to work out how to explain - putting his tongue out for 'th' is about as far as I've got.

I wondered if there was a book or facts sheets explaining how the different bits of your mouth are used to make different sounds, like you've explained.

But that is very helpful.

'Th' is one of the hardest sounds, my dd is 6 and has only just got it. If you are really concerned most school's are in touch with speech specialists that could perhaps provide you with a worksheet or two to do at home?
Good luck, i'm sure your son will be chatting away with clarity before you know it
