Moving a 4 Year Old to a new Bedroom - Help!

I am expecting twin girls in 16 weeks so took the decision to move DS1 to the smaller box room as its just not big enough for two babies.

he has been in his room since birth really so it must be a huge change to him but he's being very brave. we have decorated and DH has drawn transformers on the wall for him as he's a huge fan, bought new carpet and bed but he is having real trouble settling down at night.

we are onto bed no:2 as the first one was quite high and he got a bit scared so the new one is much lower which reduces the floor space he has to play on but we'll have to get by. (i'm waffling now, sorry!)

just want to know if anyone else has moved their kids into a new room and how they coped. can i try anything else to help him settle in - i'm not sure if we made such a big hype about his new big boy room that its all a bit overwhelming for him now!

I would suggest you stick to a regular routine.

The room might 'settle' in a different manner, so different light infiltration, different sounds which might be taking him a while to get used to.

Thanks Mmmm.

he's at the front of the house now rather than the back so i know there is much more noise that he is used to. its also much smaller than what he was in previoulsy so i'm sure it will take some time, i just don't want to force it too much and terrify him for life!

he's always been a great sleeper and once he settled last night (after 11pm!) he slept till we got him up at 7am (not a happy bunny today you can imagine!) but more nights like that will tell on all of us.
