Bet wetting and brownie camp

My daughter is off to camp, literally around the corner in a church hall, two nights in her sleeping bag on top of a camp bed.
The problem is around 1 out 7 nights she'll wet the bed, sort herself out with wipes, change her knickers and then completely forget all about it.
On the occassions where I have her in my bed I make her wear Pyjama pants because I can't risk my matteress getting ruined, she has a special sheet on hers, so it wouldn't be the first time she'd worn them but I'm worried how we discretely get her into and out of them without the other girls noticing if I send some to camp with her. Or do I just pray we get away with it ?

She won't be the only one with pyjama pants, don't worry

I take children on residential camps and most years someone will have an accident. It is surprisingly common. Tell the brownie leaders..I'm sure they will be very sensible about it. Pack her extra stuff and try not to worry about it. She must go on the camp...it was the making of my very clingy, homesicky dd!

I'm sure she'll be fine -she will probably be up much later than usual and will therefore have a much later last-wee.

BlueBumedFly · 06/04/2010 19:54

Brownie camp was what eventually stopped eldest SDD from bed wetting. She was extremely stressed going and stayed up very late to keep going to the loo but it broke the habit and was fine after that.

Am having the same thoughts re dd who is off for a Rainbows sleepover in May

She is 6.6

Do you really think they'll be other girls in pj pants/pull-up things? Dd refuses to wear one at home but might be persuaded for the sleepover...

Can't bear the thought of her getting stressed or upset if she wets in her sleep

MillyMollyMoo · 06/04/2010 21:52

I think I'm going to send her in a nighty instead of pyjama's and hide the pull ups in her sleeping bag and then she can get in the sleeping bag and pull the pull ups up discretely, we're going to practice

Milly - inspired idea!

To notnowbernard: Your dd is 6.6? I wet the bed until I was 13 - and most nights of the week! She definitely won't be the only one & to anyone who is worried about their dc's, all you can do is try to be discreet, reassure them & wait until they grow out of it. And it really is more common than any of you realise!

More than likely to be other girls with pyjama pants. We usually have at least one girl who wears these or needs lifting last thing at night (and trust me on Brownie camp last thing at night really is last thing )

Have a word with the Guider in charge or the 1st aider - they'll be used to dealing with it.

notnowbernard · 07/04/2010 22:19

These posts are reassuring

Will talk to her nearer the time about how she wants to play it

PJ pants in her LARGE wash bag, she takes it into the loo cubicle with her before bed, PJ pants swopped for normal knickers. reverse process in morning , with a nappy sack for containment if needed.

TrowelAndError · 10/04/2010 23:03

Yes, do tell the Guider. I'm sure they'll be (discreetly) helpful.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 12/04/2010 07:10

We had a brownie sleepover a couple of weeks ago. Two out of the 22 did pee, but as we'd been forewarned we could deal with it discreetly. It isn't unusual.
