9m old still not fully rolling or crawling

Should I be worried? She's very vocal, saying various sounds, very tactile and good with objects etc, but still no interest in moving. She's only recently got good at sitting as well. She has always hated 'tummy time' so I guess that's part of it. Any similar babies out there??

I would say don't worry. DD fidn't move at all until she was 10.5 months and didn't roll until she was 11.5 months. She is 4.6 now and does all the things she is meant to

Same as Noah... my charge is nearly 10 months and only just started rolling and commando crawling. She HATED tummy time too. Her parents wanted her seen by physiotherapists and the Dr as she wasn't doing what their friends babies were doing. I kept reassuring saying their friends babies are individuals, no two babies are alike, and as long as the baby is developing generally on par with their peers, a few will crawl earlier than others, a few will eat solids earlier, some won't walk til they are 18 months, some will walk at 9 months... don't stress out about it unless there are other indicators showing potential developmental issues.

Mine is exactly the same as yours species. She has just turned 9 months and still topple over occasionally when sitting. She's just starting to slump into a sort of crawling position but then goes flat on her face and cries

However she is very vocal and goos at picking up little things, so I have decided that she is working on speech and fine motor skills. That keeps me happy!

It is a shock after DD1 who was really quick at doing everything, by this age she had been crawling for 4 months and was cruising etc. She didn't say much though.

Just goes to show they are all different. I'm not worried here, and I don't think you should be. They are still very young

IT is normal normal normal. My DS 2 and DS3 were late sitting crawling and walking (DS3 waled at 22 months!)but by the time they were 2 they were indistinguishable from those who walked at 9 months. Its not a race.

Thanks all. Yes, it's hard not to compare DD with other babies, especially younger ones who are already on the move. She hasn't had her 9m check yet, so hopefully the HV can put my mind at rest as well.

I dread people asking is she pulling up, is she crawling etc. Not helped by clip on FB of friends' pfb daughter rolling at 5m....

It is hard, but I'm sure she is fine. Remember that they can't do everything at once, and the crawling/pulling up stuff is the most obvious. She will be gaining ground in other less obvious skills - as you say her speech and fine motor skills are coming on no end

CMOTdibbler · 02/04/2010 15:02

My DS didn't crawl until he was almost 1, but when he did, he was off at top speed straightaway. He didn't bother rolling around, and walked 2 months after he crawled.

They are all different, and being early doing something means nothing in the long term

Species8472 · 02/04/2010 15:20

Thanks . I am a real worrier and she's my first, so it's hard to be objective sometimes!

my ds never crawled at all
and I don't remember him rolling unitl much later

he got up and walked at 1 yr

My DD is ten months today and still not crawling. She can roll over but never does.

She does sit very well, and just in this month has started getting around by leaning forward from sitting and reaching and then sitting again and then repeating the process! It takes her forever but she can now cross a room .. They do learn very quickly at this age so its perfectly possible that in a month's time your DD will be crawling around everywhere and you will wish to god that she wasn't!

She has literally just yesterday learnt to get from sitting on to all fours (previoulsy she got one foot in the right place only find she was still sitting on the other foot!) So she now rocks on all fours but still no crawling.

Its very very common (I know as I have been asking all my friends why DD wasn;t crawling yet and many of them said their DCs didn't do anything till nearly 12 months either).

DD is very good at communicating and eating/feeding herself. So I just think, as you say, that she has been putting all her energy into these things so far. They can't do everything all at once, after all!

Bumpsadasie that sounds very cute!
