Signs of readiness for potty training?

Was just reading the potty training thread and thought I would ask this separately.

My DD is 10 months - and last night my mother mentioned that I potty-trained in one week, at 12 months old. Don't expect DD to be doing this any time soon - my mother said I did it early not least because my cloth nappies were uncomfy and the unbreathable plastic pants that went over the top were a perfect cause of awful nappy rash and I was v uncomfortable.

But then I realised that I wouldn't know what "the signs of readiness" are anyway (not that I am in a hurry with DD).

We often hold her on the loo before we go in the bath together, as she has a habit of pooing in the bath - she enjoys sitting on the loo and giggles. Also she doesn't like having her nappies on any more and fights to pull them off.

But what are "the signs"?!?

Thanks
Bumps

Your DD is very young. (i remember someone telling me that in the old days they used to hold 6 week olds over potties!! .

Just put a potty around the place and leave off the nappy when its convenient and chill out. (most DCs are ready at around 2years old) and a lot are MUCH older.
