Tip toes!

Ok so I think this normal but DD 19 months keeps walking on her tip toes. She got up and walked at 10 months and has always walked normally, people have always commented how steady she is on her feet, so why now?
Should I be discouraging it?
P.S I know I'm neurotic!

I think you need to ask your GP or health visitor.

Toe walking is really common in toddlers when learning to walk. However if your dd has just started toewalking when she has been walking normally for several months then you need a medical opinon.

She might just be practicing a different thing - most babies don't heel-toe reliably until they're two.

I'm sure she's just trying it out because she can! However, if you have noticed that she can't now put her feet flat at all whilst standing or walking this may be a cause for concern. Most kids don't learn to tip toe until they are a little older (between 2 and 3 years) but because your dd walked quite young and has been very steady she may be reaching her milestones early!

She can walk flat and normal, so your probably right just found something new she can do! Thank you for your replies!

This may be totally random, but does she suffer from constipation? Don't laugh ... a friend of mine had a little girl whip tiptoed from around the age of 2. She took her to a cranial osteopath for another reason who commented on her gait - recommended a homeopath, who treated her constipation which, in turn, ended the tiptoeing. She did explain to me how it was all connected ... releiving the bowel etc, can't remember full medical explaination. Just a thought. good luck !
