4 year old is pooing his pants at school

Hope you can help.
It's been going on for about a week, and he's not telling his teacher when it happens. They noticed once last week (happened 3 times in a row last week and again today)- He comes home and tells me straight away, apologizes and obviously feels bad about it. I am trying to play it down, not make a big deal.

I thought he may be coming down with something but he didn't do it at all over the weekend.

His lovely teacher says there is no problem at school- He's popular and gets on well with the work. He seems to enjoy it, always happy to go in in the morning. Only change at home is that his new brother arrived six months ago... But he seems to adore his brother, and is rarely jealous.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

aw i remember my son doing that once or twice! i think they either get so wrapped up in what they are doing that they forget - or they are scared of using the school loos. i think it's usually the latter.

can you ask the teacher to ask him during the day if he needs to go? i remember i used to nag my son to go before school and would make him sit on the loo to try

Yes, I did that last week- he had a huge poo before school, but still did it!

I had two children who pooed their pants when they moved from a nursery to a reception class. (I was their teacher.) I agree with southeastastra. Maybe he's afraid or doesn't like the school loos? Go in there with him and ask him if there is anything that bothers him? Perhaps the toilet seat is dirty or something? You didn't mention how old is he?
