DD2 started saying baba constantly for 3 days And blowing raspberries at 24/25 weeks but since then has not said any 'word' or done the raspberries thing but squealing laughing etc. Should I be worried? She is now 27 weeks so it's been 3 weeks now. She sits up now and is really alert otherwise. Just not sure if this is something normal or not to start then stop ??

BTW she got chicken pox around the time she stopped Doing these things.

nothing to worry about ime. Both my DDs seemed to learn a new 'skill', then another one seemed to overtake the last one and become the favourite. DD2 (8mo) has just exited the squealing phase (thankfully) and started babbling again.

HTH

Hello yentil, it's early days yet and if she's had chicken pox then it could just be that she's still recovering a bit.
I see babies for checks between 10-12 months (am a HV) and only get concerned if they are not doing this babbling by that stage - even then it might simply be ear infections and fluid on the ears which is easily treated.
As lurkingsnurker says above - smetimes new skills are learned and the surpassed by others. Hope that helps.

Thanks for putting my mind at rest. Should I get her ears checked just in case?

This is v normal. My dd baba'd about this age and then gave up for about a month in favour of shrieking/raspberries. The baba then came back but was quickly replaced by dada (she wont say baba any more). Flavour of the month now is mo-mo-mom and she rarely says dada ... Wonder what will be next?!

My experience has that little ones are quite arbitrary...

My DS2 managed to say DS1's name at a young age(about the same as your's now), didn't say anything until later and now repeats incessantly (he's 1 mths), along with Mam, DS1, Dad and "Ice" (Uncle Si - no margin for error, it is said in the correct place EVERY DAY!!)

"Please" is said in the right place occasionally but everything else is at his pace.

Hang on, I'll try again....

My experience has been that little ones are quite arbitrary...

DS2 managed to say DS1's name at a young age (about the same as your's is now), he then didn't say anything until much later and now repeats DS1's name incessantly (he's 18 mths), along with Mam, DS1, Dad and "Ice" (Uncle Si - no margin for error, it is said in the correct place EVERY DAY!!)

"Please" is said in the right place occasionally but everything else is at his pace.
