Bit puzzled - can children sprain/ pull muscles?

DS (3.9) fell at soft play today and hurt his leg - coming down a slope and clearly put pressure on and twisted his knee, ended up in a heap at the bottom.

He couldn't put weight on it for a good few hours afterwards though seems to be improving now.

I didn't quite think children could sprain muscles in that way - it seems such an adult injury! He has very flat feet and generally is resistant to walking - after reading various things about hypermobility and low muscle tone I'm beginning to wonder if there's anything I should get checked.

Am I being completely daft?

Kids have muscles and can therefore sprain them. If he has very flat feet, I would get it checked.

Yes they can - get it checked out. DS1 pulled his elbow and hurt his leg - greenstick fracture- at that age. The doctor should confirm if you need to do anything to help your DC.

Yes they can. Apart from greenstick fractures, and the usual sprains etc. they can injure the growth plate of the injured bone, which an permanently stunt/affect the growth of that bone. I would have it checked out.
