Am I being lax here, should I see HV?

DS is 18.5 months and still not walking. He can pull up easily and cruises a bit, but not loads. I've been supremely unconcerned (DP allegedly didn't walk till 22 months, so I figured it ran in the family!), but one too many concerned phonecalls from relatives has made me wonder if I should follow it up.

FWIW DS sat relatively late, started commando crawling at 12 months and proper crawling at around 16 months. He also bumshuffles occasionally, just for a change... He doesn't appear to be in any discomfort when he stands.

Hmmmm given that dh didnt walk until later I would not be over concerned but Id give the HV a quick call I think.

That waiting Maybe I'll give them a call in a week or two if there's still no walking!

He is cruising so weigh bearing so really won't worry, maybe in 2 months or if he seems to be going backwards.

I'd call HV only so then when you get the concerned phone calls you can tell everyone what you already knew (I've done this with my mum and MIL on several occasions! it just gave me more confidence)

Children develop at different rates. Most children can walk at eighteen months - but not all. You shouldn't worry unless he is late reaching all his milestones. Is he beginning to talk?

tbh, we were worried about a relative but turns out at 23 months he started to walk on his own. He just crawled for ages, did some of the 'coasting' and then just walked.

don't worry about other relatives responses to this - just say in a jolly way that he's doing great in other milestones and that you are happy with his progress.
