Losing baby teeth, whats the youngest?

My Dd is 5 and has 2 adult teeth already, she has lost 2 top teeth this week and another is about ready to go.
At the rate she is losing them she will have a full set of adult teeth by the time she is 6 or 7!

I have googled and know its at the younger end of normal, but was wondering what thee youngest/oldest on here were!

my last baby tooth was still in at age 14 - the dentist removed it at that point.

My dd1 is six tomorrow and has been losing teeth all year. She now has 10 or 12 adult teeth.

My DS 61/2 and there is no sign of losing any baby teeth, but a few in his class have lost lots.

As a child I only naturally lost 2 teeth, the rest were pulled out by the dentist as they just weren't budging.

hiya belgo
my ds is six tomorrow
and he has had his first wobbly teeth for about three weeks and they are still in his mouth with the adult teeth getting taller everyday behind them

ihearthuckabees · 25/02/2010 12:57

I think there can be a lot of natural variation. 5 doesn't sound horribly young. My DS lost his first (and it's still the only) tooth 3 weeks shy of his 8th birthday, but he was the last of his friends and I was beginning to worry. I think my nephews starting losing theirs around age 5 though. Like I say, lots of variation.

Drinkerbell · 25/02/2010 13:01

My DD lost her first teeth just before her 5th Birthday.

I freaked totally but coincidentally she already had a dentist appointment for the next day. Dentist said it was fine and the other teeth were right behind them. I thought it was really early but the dentist just said "she's a big girl, her mouth is healthy, just at the early end of the scale".

We had to write a note for the tooth fairy as her two bottom teeth came out while she was eating a cake!

My ds1 started getting his first two adult teeth through at age 4. He's now nearly 6 and has 6 adult teeth through and has 2 more slightly wobbly teeth. He has a tendency to look like a shark for a while, with grown up teeth growing behind baby teeth, and I wish his teeth weren't coming through quite so quickly, because there isn't really room in his mouth for all those adult teeth, yet. Two of the adult teeth haven't been able to push forwards to the space where the baby teeth were (not enough room), resulting in him talking with a slight lisp at the moment and having gone through a stage of biting his tongue, because he wasn't used to having teeth in such an odd place!

Chatee - my dd1 had her two top incisors stuck out out an awful angle while the new incisors came down behind them without pushing them out.

The dentist said she would have to remove them the following week, then a couple for days later dd1 conveniently fell down and the baby teeth fell out, we were very pleased

belgo · 25/02/2010 13:21

oh and ds is 16 months and has just got the last four of his 20 baby teeth! I think dd1 was the same, which is why they are all falling out so early.

It's annoying.

meatntattypie · 25/02/2010 13:26

ds is nearly 7 and still has not lost a single tooth!! he of course is gutted (as it can make a boy £1!!)
I am chuffed that he has inherited my fab teeth and that he looks after them despite not loosing any. I honestly thought he would take on the tact that if he didnt clean them...they would drop out!
phew, not so far!

meatntattypie · 25/02/2010 13:27

i still have a baby tooth and i am 40 soon.....does that count?
every time i go to the dentist they anounce it to me!!

izzybiz · 25/02/2010 14:58

Does seem to be lots of variations!
Dd cut her first baby tooth at 4 months, and pretty much had a mouthfull at just over a year, Ds is now 17 months and has all his so maybe he will be the same.

kissingfrogs · 26/02/2010 21:02

Can I join the i've-still-gotbabyteeth club please? (meaty being the founder member here by virtue of age!)
I'm 42 and I've still got babyteeth. Apparently the lack of some/all adult teeth is an hereditary condition passed down through the female line.
My mother had no adult teeth. As a twin, I have half a set of adult teeth and my sis has the other half
Dentists love us - we're like an orthodontic(sp) fairground attraction.

MakemineaGandT · 26/02/2010 21:06

that's interesting kissingfrogs. I also have a number of missing adult teeth - exactly the same ones as my grandmother lacked!

Littlefish · 26/02/2010 21:18

My dh has some of his baby teeth, and I have two missing front teeth (I only have 2 front teeth instead of 4).

Poor dd doesn't stand a chance - two inherited conditions in the family!

josieandthepussycats · 26/02/2010 21:37

dd lost her first teeth just before 5 they literally fell out one by one every couple of weeks after that. Now at 8 she only has about 5 teeth left to get before her has all her adult teeth!
