I have a 6 yo DS who talks about bums, poos, wees ALL THE TIME.
I know it may be a boy/becoming aware etc thing but it's really starting to annoy me.
How cane I get him to stop/tone it down?
Please!!!

Gotta laugh! I'm having the exact same issue at the moment. Its getting embarrassing actually. I think the more I tell him to stop, the more he says it. I try now not to draw much attention to it, and I hopw it will tone down eventually, especially as he matures.

If it is normal conversation as in needing a poo, wee,etc...that is of course fine (though if they say bum about anything, I always quietly repeat, bottom...I prefer that!)
If it is poo poo head and such like, I've always told my charges that that is called playground talk and they don't do it at home or with other grown ups but if they want to run around like all the kids at school in the playground messing about with it that's up to them.
When they do it...I just throw a glance in their direction, not the naughty step, but a glare and then I ignore.
It's worked for 16years!{eventually...make take a week or so!}
Then again, that also shows you that all kids do it, have done it for decades..though I don't remember doing it...I must have been a good girl!

If it is any consolation, my DD is doing the same. I think that she is looking for a reaction from me. I have told her that it is rude and that she shouldn't say those things. My other half has instigated a "rude words 10 minutes". He sets the clock on the cooker and she can say whatever she likes for 10 minutes - songs with words changed to her favourite word etc - and we all have a laugh but then she is not allowed to say it again for the rest of the day. Seems to be containing things so far.
