'Tummy Time' - is it worth persisting?

DD2 is nearly 6mo, and from day 1, has not been a fan of tummy time. I did not try it very often in the early days, and being the second child, was not as pushy as i was with DD1! should i be persisting with it - basically, after about 30 secs she puts her head down and cries; if i prop her with a pillow underneath her chest, she just lies down and dozes! have tried enticing her woth toys, us, peppa pig on TV but no luck.
She cannot roll but has had good head control from quite early on and has been sitting unaided for a good lenght of time for about 3 weeks now.
shoudl i persist with tummy time or just leave her? don't want to delay her crawling or anything, but also dont want to make ehr fed up!

aah, that's the thing, you see. i don't know if she won't roll because she doesn't like being on her tummy, or if she can't roll because of not doing tummy time!
have been tryng for the last couple of days but to no avail. she just wants to sit up all the time now!

Since Tummy Time is so important, keep trying. Make sure you offer TT at her most content time of day, and do so in short spurts. You can try the ?football hold? and a lap soothe ? with her on your lap to settle her, tummy-down, instead of always upright on your shoulder. Providing quick bits of Tummy Time following a diaper change, for example, is also another great idea so she?ll associate it with a regular routine. Pathways Awareness also has some tips and tools to help you through it on their site at: bit.ly/8IhuuF.

Tummy time is not the end of the world. Yes, it promotes physical development. Eight years ago we did not know about tummy time, and my son still learnt how to walk and talk.

It is not the end of the world if your baby hates tummy time. There are other ways of promoting head control like using a sling to carry your baby.

Many societies never put babies on their tummies and their children grow up just fine.
