My DD2 rocks herself to sleep (on hands and knees rocking back and forwards), never struck me as being a problem until I mentioned to my HV that she's not walking yet and HV pulled face....I looked it up online and body rocking is a feature in autistic children. Should I be worried?

What are her other milestones like?
The internet is a great thing but it can also be very misleading!!

My DS does this. I find it quite odd. I dont think he has SN though. He is 22 months and walking, talking, interacting etc. You need to look at the overall picture. Will watch this thread with interest.

A BF's DS did this from a very young age - turned out he needed gromits but not before he was assessed for everything as his speech was also delayed. He is now a gorgeous, super bright 6 year old who is pain free and can hear! Also a late walker which I think was down to ear and balance but can't quite remember now....

Other milestones seem to be OK, she is talking a little, more and more all the time. She eats on her own, uses crayons to draw, can do jigsaws with a bit of help. We have had 3 steps independently now from her but the rocking still bothers me!!

Have just called the HV again and she has agreed to refer DD to see someone to check her over regarding the late walking after I mentioned the bodyrocking habits too. So will keep you posted!!

Hi my DD is 21 months and rocks in the day and is not fully walking yet. She is seen once a month by a physio and a doctor every couple of months as she has glue ear. I have been told by everyone not to worry about the rocking as some children do it for comfort. She normally only does it now if she is watching TV on the floor. If she is on my lap she sits still. I don't think it is anything to worry about, but it might be worth getting your DD's ears checked. Does she get a lot of ear infections as my DD did?
