Bath-time terrors

22 mth DD always loved her bath to the point she used to cry when we took her. In the past 10 days has started having major meltdown as soon as she is put in the bath, refuses to sit down, sobs hysterically etc. I have tried getting in with her, turning it into a game etc. but nothing is working. Maybe this just a 2yr old thing .....anyone experienced the same and what did you do ?

yup - our DD when she was 2. She used to straddle her legs across the bath, kicking and screaming whenever we said "bath time" and jumped out once we managed to get her in! Have you taken her swimmimg? Perhaps when she sees a lot of people in the water, she might think "oh, it's okay". Also, for our DD, we bought a toy bath for her toys and dolls and she absolutely loved it. We stopped bathing her for a few days and just strip washed her instead until she said she wanted to take her toys in the bath. Hey presto! Now aged 8, we can't get her out of the bath - beauty products everywhere!

Oh gosh yes! Honestly I was frightened of putting him in for fear the neighbours would call someone out to us, his screams were that loud!! he is so laid back about everything that it was such a shock. I got to only bathing him once a week max. I also realised he started to dislike it on his face ears eyes. Could get him in the bath for short periods as long as I didn't wash his hair.

Anyway my sister bought him a fab bath toy for his birthday. He was still reluctant though as loved the toy but didn't want it in the bath.

Now I can shower him again. I have to be very very clear that i am going to put it on his head and he needs to shut his eyes and he is "ok"

I do think it is something a lot of them go through at this kind of age. But he didn't smell or look dirty even with the shortage of baths!!

He is 2.4 now though so tad bit older than your DD. I would say perseere, she will come through it and try and forget any hang ups about bathing fo hygiene
