It's only 11.15am, and I'm already bracing myself for when I collect her from school.

I know she will fuss about everything. She will wind her older brothers up. She will interupt when I ask DS1 if he had a good day, telling me all about her day, and not letting DS1 get a word in. Her teachers find her delightfull, and quite a "card". Personally I just find her draining atm.

This is definately not due to tirednes after school.

She was such an esay baby, and a reasonable toddler. Is this what 4 year old girls are like?

Are you sure she's not just tired? My DD1 was just like this, and worse, when she came out of school at four YO. She's still a bit zombified when she comes out and just likes to have a rest and something to eat before she's feeling herself again.

At four school is hard work, and she sounds excited to tell you what she's been doing, which a lot of parents would love when all they can get out of their DC is a grunt when they ask how their day went

Perhaps you could give her a certain amount of time to tell you about her day before going onto your DSs and then maybe involve her in asking them about their days?

Definately not tired, but could be hungry...she wolfed a load of brioche this afternoon, and was much better.

She has time alone with me while we are waiting for for teh DSs to come out, when she can tell me all about school. We also usually have a little chat with the TA about what she's been up to. DS1 has been struggling at school, and if I don't get out of him in the car how his day was, I can't engage his mood...which is why her interupting annoys me.

She's also taken to dashing across roads, which while they are mostly quiet, and the cars drive slowly, she just musn't do, so I'm having to hang onto her which is making her cross.

she sounds like my ds who is 4. He's very cute but very draining - and hates me talking to ds1 about school on the way home. Which is annoying because ds1 is quiet so tends to need to be asked.

Oh yes and the dashing across roads. The screeching as we go past shops we aren't going in.

I think he's finding school draining tbh but not much choice about it round here.

My kids, and my neice go a little batty when they have low blood sugar. Can you let her tell you about her day in your 1-1 time then give her a peice of fruit or whatever to increase her blood sugar levels (as you noted she was better after food which is what made me think she was the same as my kids) - it will also shut her up with food in her mouth so your DS can talk!!
