Help! - Baby has become frantic while feeding

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this? My baby is 9 weeks old and in the last week has started to become absolutely frantic when feeding. As soon as the bottle teat touches her mouth she starts screaming and crying and darting her mouth around until she eventually latches on and starts sucking. This manicness has resulted in her vomiting once a day while feeding.

I thought it may be because she wasn't getting enough milk out of the bottle so I changed from single hole tommee tippee to the vari-flow. These just made her gag and she projectile vomited twice on them. So, I'm back to the single hole teats.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Has anyone got any advice?

PS she's been feeding from bottles for 6 weeks now and she was absolutely fine up to a week ago.

I'm no expert so I'm only guessing, but could she be very hungry when you're feeding her, if she's OK once she latches on? If she's getting worked up into a state, she could just be frustated until she gets her nosh? You'll probably get more posts answering you on the bottle and breast feeding boards.

If you think your DDs mouth might be hurting her or something, you're probably best off going to your Drs or HV.

Hope she's OK, there's always something to worry about isn't there??

I really don't know if this might be the problem as 9 weeks seems very young for teething, but I was told that apparently the teeth move underneath the gums A LOT before teeth start to show and for some DC it can be agony. Apparently just putting their lips around a bottle is incredibly painful.

Also, have you checked for oral thrush? My LO had it for 12 weeks undiagnosed (the GPs just kept saying it was milk residue! ). It can make the mouth and feeding really really uncomfortable.

Just a couple of suggestions...
