smearing pooh from nappy

Please help! My 23 month old girl has started pulling pooh out of her nappy and wiping it all around her bedroom. I thought this was a cue to start potty training, which I did 2 weeks ago and has gone quite well, but the problem remains. She generally only does this when I put her down for her lunchtime/ afternoon sleep. SHe has started not going to sleep and doing this instead. At first I just cleaned it up and tried to ignore the behaviour as I thought it was attention seeking. Now the last two times I have shouted at her and told her it is naughty but this also makes no impression. I have asked friends who either think it is funny or think my child is a freak. I am really at the end of my tether with this. Her behaviour is not an issue otherwise, and she is usually very good.

It's quite normal. You just have to get ingenious with ways to keep her hands out of her nappy - what kind of clothing is she wearing when she does it?

when my DD started taking her nappy off I started dressing her in the vests that popper up between the legs - removed her access and problem solved!

I wonder if this is more of an issue with girls? I don't recall either of my boys doing it, but my friend's daughter was a nightmare!

Our DS did this - it's why he now wears his sleeping bag or sleeper suit back to front, so he can't get it off.

I put her to bed in her pyjamas so she does have access to her nappy. I will try tomorrow with her back in bodysuit vests which I had stopped using. It is common sence when you think about it! Thank you so much at least I don't think it is just my child now.

Nope, not just yours. I was horrified the first time it happened, then just aggravated after that. But I suppose lots of kids do it, so we're not completely abnormal.
