First teeth - once through the gum, how quickly...

...do they grow up into a "full" tooth iyswim?

Had a horrible night Sunday night with DD, 7 months, much thrashing around and crying (her and me, in the end), and today I can feel the tooth just through the gum, maybe a millimetre or so, a sharp line, front bottom left. She still has a stream of drool and is chewing her fist as per usual (but has been doing this since 3 months), but I am sure the tooth has popped through, rather than still being below the gum (I could feel it then too, but it felt different, fleshy and not sharp).

And - more importantly - once it has broken through the gum, does it still cause pain as it grows up properly to full tooth height?

Hi my dd is 13 month and has quite a few teeth now, from my experience its prior to the toots cutting and the just cutting through is the most painful.
She should be ok now well at least til next one.

Dont know what u are using but i found ashton & parsons teething powders fab.

And how quickly before the tooth is all the way through once it has initially broken through? Hours? Days? Weeks?

With this first tooth, I am sad to say I used nasal drops, propping the cot and a flannel with Vicks on, as I thought all the fussing was due to her grotty cold and not being able to breathe through her nose in her sleep.

It seems to take a few weeks for the tooth to come through fully once cut through - mind you mind two boys appear to be glacial teethers...

Nelsons teethas camomile powder, nurofen childrens and anbesol (if really bad) or calgel are my top tips...

I would say a couple of weeks before completely grown but you might find that the other bottom 1 will cut through very soon and then they just seem to grow 2gether.

every time my DD gets snots a cought, loose nappies s have learnt the signe now

I agree with dinky re calgel too x
