13MO no teeth

Not worried, just wondered what other people's experiences are of this. DD has no teeth, and no signs either. More importantly, is it true that teething is easier when teeth are late??!!

Not sure about it being easier!

But DD2 didn't teeth until almost 12mths, she still has alot of baby teeth at 12, in fact DD3 has over taken DD2 with the amount of teeth she has lost. there is 2 and a half yrs between them!

DD2 has been late also at losing teeth, I think this is a bonus as they are a lot older and therefor more capable at looking after their adult teeth better!

Damn, was hoping for easy ride!

Is DD going for a record at 13 months?

DD was over a year before she got her first tooth. It's more common for them to be late if there's a family history of it.

It's normal for it to take up to 18 months for the first tooth to appear.

My DD was 14 months before she got her first tooth, and since then there always seems to be another tooth coming through (she's 20 months now). She's been fine with it though, so we're either lucky or it is easier when they are a bit older!

Ds1 13 months, ds2 14 months. Can't say if it was easier as have no experience of babies teething younger.

As showofhands says, it runs in the family. I didn't have my first tooth until over a year old.

Ds1 is almost 10 and has only lost 3 baby teeth so far, ds2 almost 8 and has lost none of his. I still have one of my baby teeth!!

My DD is almost 15 months and still toothless. Although I know that there's nothing to worry about, I still worry about it. My mother asking every time I speak to her if there's any sign of a tooth doesn't really help either!

notsotinybaba · 26/01/2010 21:30

Wow! Good to know it's not as uncommon as I thought

Crystal Queen - I'm also constantly asked by mother and MIL whether there are any signs of teeth, and that every single thing DD does (including poking her finger in her ear) MUST be teething. They have been saying this for the past 6 months!!!!

DS is 13mo and 2 weeks ago he had no teeth.

He now has 3.

IME, it is not easier, but we are hopefully getting it all over and done with quickly

DH had no teeth at first birthday either as MIL has told me a million times

CrystalQueen · 26/01/2010 22:20

I get the same thing. DD is chewing a toy - oh, it must be a tooth. DD is a bit grumpy - must be a tooth. DH is threatening to kill my mum - must be a tooth! (It's like when I was waiting to go into labour - yes mum, asking me every day IS NOT HELPING).

Neel1411 · 27/01/2010 07:31

LOL CrystalQueen! My DS did teeth at 6 months. But I read somewhere about this little joke!

A worried mum took her little daughter to the paed to check why her little one has still not got any teeth. The paed looked at her calmly and replied .... "Have you ever seen any young adult without a single teeth?!"

I think that explains a lot

My DD2 had their first teeth at 18 months, one top and one bottom, and the next two (top/bottom) at 24months. Never had any tooth pain or hight temperature or running poos, well she had but it couldn't be tooth related when you don't have any tooth coming.

CrystalQueen · 27/01/2010 09:51

Well my dentist didn't help. I went for a checkup (on my own) when DD was nine months and asked when I should bring her. He didn't believe me when I said she had no teeth. "They look like little white bumps" was what he said. REALLY? All my life I didn't know what a tooth looked like.

On the plus side DD has never bitten her tongue (obviously) which all her little friends seem to have done.
