Hi everyone.

So after following a thread here earlier this week I have not instigated a bed time routine and it's going really well, apart from one problem.

To give a bit of background, up until last week my DS (now aged 17 weeks) and I were just going with the flow when it came to bedtimes. He would generally feed lots in the evening and then go to sleep at midnight, and then sleep through until 7am. He is now going to bed at 8pm, then waking at 10.30pm for a feed, and then waking again at 2.30am for a feed, and then finally waking 7am. So I've gone from getting 7 straight hours to lots of little broken bits. Does anyone have any advice? At the moment I'm quite tempted to go back to him going to bed at midnight!

he's probably having the hideous 4 month growth spurt which would explain why he liked feeding lots in the evening, and why he has now replace dthat with a few night wakings

i think he'll improve with age (like most things!)

ah I did not know there was a 4 month growth spurt! Oh lord the last one was awful. I did not move from the sofa, he fed for hours and hours on end. On the plus side it lasted a week and then stopped.

Actually, those two wake-ups sound pretty standard - that might be your routine for the next few months! On the plus side he can't keep going to sleep at midnight through toddlerhood, so it's no bad thing to start early-bed now and the overnight wake-ups will tail off.

Eventually.

I agree with everyone above. Stick with it and it'll get better. 2 wake ups between 8pm and 7am is pretty good.
I know it's tempting to go back to how ou did things before, but like Octavia says, he can't go to bed at midnight forever and it''l be alot easier to change routines now.

Hi Snowfalls, your new pattern sounds pretty normal. Ours was waking much more often! So, it seems broken up now but its really not bad -- with only two night feeds you could get DP (?) to do one as an expressed feed to get a decent stretch of sleep

Thanks all. I'll stick with it. It is lovely to have some time free in the evenings!
