He is 8mths and over the last 9 weeks he has started to teeth quite heavily with 6 coming in at the sametime. He has stopped sleeping through waking 2,3,4 times for at least an hour at a time just shouting and nothing will settle him. I have tried 'pick up put down' giving milk, talking, I just have to wait it out each night and wait for him to decide to got to sleep.
This didn't happen with my first child and so is very alien to me and I am feeling like a really rubbish mum not being able to sort this out...

His day time sleeps have also gone out the window and he will quite happily scream and shout for two hours in his cot when he is down for a sleep..then in the end I just get him up,

Because he is so tired - he is starting not to eat very well now too..

What can I do? Is this what teething does? How long will this go on for?

I will appreciate any feedback..
xx

Well, I know that my DS2 suffered quite badly with teething. (DS1 not so bad). I have to say, I dosed him up with Calpol and Ibuprofen.

Might be an idea to take him to the GP to get him checked over, especially his ears. DS1 suffered ear infections when he was teething.

Good luck.

I was going to ask whether you're giving him painkillers - you don't mention it. There's nothing wrong with using Calpol and Ibuprofen alternating.

sounds like normal teething behaviour to me. we had a week of interrupted nights with each tooth that came through! Recommend calpol and ashton and parsons teething powders.

Have you tried any teething gels?

Denitnox or Bonjela are good ones.

When my normal smiley dc2 who is now 1 gets a grump on in a big way at the moment, I get the calpol out and find that she then resumes normal behaviour half an hour or so later !.....particularly though in the middle of the night if milk and a cuddle doesn't do it and she's still going at it then I give Calpol. It must be horrible for them.

Using teething powders as well as all the above helped mine.
