I should add I decided to stop feeding him in the night when he woke up, just gave him water instead. Seems to have done the trick.

ds is 7months and i want to try the water trick to get him to wake up less, but does it really work?!? just, water? how much do you give, do they just drink a bit and think naah, changed my mind ill go back to sleep...?? i just can't imagine how it would work..! give me hope?

My HV scolded me for still feeding my 8mo during the night, so we went cold turkey on her advice. Not only did it not improve DD's night sleeping it started to stuff up her daytime naps too. She stopped being able to put herself to sleep and screamed blue murder when put into her cot (from having been quite happy to be put down awake). I rebelled and started giving her feeds again (only the two or three that she woke up for) and she's started sleeping much better, as have I! Sleeping through isn't the be-all and end-all.
