hi, i bought a kids lamp from Wilkinson. Costs £12. The bulb is completly enclosed so DD can't touch the bulb and the on switch is on the lead. My DD also have a lava lamp at other side of bedroom, she falls asleep watching the bubbles and i turn it off once she's with the fairies (wouldn't leave it on all night).

I personally prefer the wall lamps from ikea, about a fiver each. Nice soft glow and can't be knocked off a table. Ds had a yellow moon and a blue star one when he was Little, now age 10 and still has the star!, while for dd who is 8 weeks we have a lovely pick flower one. They have loads to choose from!

My DD had a plastic one where the bulb was completely enclosed so did not matter if it got knocked off. Was not the best looking but great for her age. Other DD had one from M & S which had a touch sensitive base that dimmed or brightened it, was great when she wanted to turn it on in the night without feeling around for the switch. She has had it for years and has been fantastic unfortunately can not find a new one to replace it so if anyone has seen any let me know!

We had a lovely mother goose lamp,it had a tape deck and the light slowly faded when the tape finished.

We have Autofade lamps which are toddler-safe. They come with a dimmer (easy to operate) so you can have it bright enough to read by, or leave them very dim as a nightlight, or you can set the light to gradually dim and turn itself off over 15 minutes.
