title says it all

am taking my non sleeping, permanently feeding baby to the CA tomorrow and wondering what to expect

TIA

Not sure about miracle but it helped my son deal with colic and feeding problems following a tongue tie op. We started with weekly appointments, now going bi monthly. It's almost like a very gentle "laying on of hands"! DS loves it, the CA's are brilliant and DS always sleeps very well afterwards. Good luck.

rubyslippers · 19/01/2010 15:44

thanks Cornish

how old was your DS when he stared it?

We only had a few sessions - very gentle - fingertip touches with little or no movement. I couldn't believe it was doing anything! However, she did improve, although whether that was because she was growing out of it, or whether it was the Osteopathy, I don't know.

Two words of warning - 1) they can get quite stressy during the session (although ours always stopped when she got really cross) - due to tensions releasing. She did always sleep really well afterwards though!
2) They can get worse before they get better, so you may find after the first session or 2 she may be more unsettled, if it's possible, but then it'll 'click' as it were.

rubyslippers · 19/01/2010 16:02

thanks Galena - good to know things can be worse initially

glad it worked out for you and your LO

good luck!! was a v quick birth, although gentle as into the water, but you never know what bits are squished too much.. fast births can be as shocking for mum and baby as long drawn out ones

chegirlsgotheartburn · 19/01/2010 16:08

I took my DS when he was an older baby. He had a very trumatic start to his life (we were fostering him then adopted him). He has always had terrible eczema but I was really taking him for a sort of general wellbeing thing.

I am not an alternative type person but wanted to try whatever I could to give him a boost.

I think it helped. I still dont understand any of it though

I took him back last year (when he was 6) and I really noticed a change in him. His speech improved dramatically. It was pretty amazing.

Its not invasive and as I went to the charitable clinic in Farringdon, it didnt cost much either.

So i though 'what the hell?'

leclerc · 19/01/2010 16:09

we went with dd2 (brain damamged at birth).

like galena , not really convinced that there was much going on tbh (although no screaming here) but we did see some small improvements in level of screaming lol. again, no idea whether developmental or therapy-based.

i'd give it a go, but not pin all your hopes on it

TheresSnowDragonHere · 19/01/2010 16:11

"is it the miracle cure which people seem to think that it is?"

Not IME. I took DD when she was 4 weeks or so to clear congestion in her nose. She went from being a calm, relaxed, congested baby to a nightmare uncongested one.

rubyslippers · 19/01/2010 16:11

lulu - i felt "shocked" my her birth. She didn't sleep much that night either so i wonder if she had a bit of a traumatic entry into the world. Also she fed non stop for the first 3 days (as you remember!)

Che - that sounds very encouraging ... amazing that yo saw a difference so quickly

Lulumama · 19/01/2010 16:13

i think you need to bear in mind that she is not going to suddenly become a baby who sleeps 14 hours out of 24, she is very alert, strong and not much of a sleeper, but hopefully this will help her be more settled in the day and relax between feeds and stop being so frenetic in her feeding

chegirlsgotheartburn · 19/01/2010 16:21

theresnow my DS's behaviour used to be appalling after sessions. But at least he could tantrum with a bigger vocabulary

rubyslippers · 19/01/2010 17:05

thank you everyone

will see what tomorrow brings ... i know she won't suddenly sleep through but i have got to get some improvement or i will lose it

My DS started going at ten days. As well as the tongue tie op we also had a quick birth. The CO actually asked me if I had a short umbilical cord (I did) as she could feel where DS had been yanked! The midwife tried to pass him to me immediately but the cord was too short. CO did seem to really help him and I saw a definite difference after the first session.

I'm going tomorrow actually - a great place in Farringdon!

Good luck, I hope it works for you.

Tillyscoutsmum · 20/01/2010 10:59

I've just booked DS in for his first session on Saturday. I have been followed your threads ruby and have similar issues. Hope the CO helps

Let us know how you got on

rubyslippers · 20/01/2010 16:35

ok - we had our first session

i could see her posture visibly relaxing throughout the treatment

it was very light - he touched her spine, back of her neck and her tummy

he was a very nice guy and didn't bat an eyelash when DD was crying

DD is fast asleep now

will report back tomorrow on how tonight goes

Lulumama · 20/01/2010 16:58

will be waiting to hear how it went x

rubyslippers · 21/01/2010 07:34

she was calmer but still woke every 2 hours for a feed last night

OP posts:
Lulumama · 21/01/2010 07:35

oh dear , are you having another session? phone me later xx

Tillyscoutsmum · 21/01/2010 08:42

Did they give any indication whether you'd need more sessions ?

rubyslippers · 21/01/2010 08:50

yes - we are going again next week

he said it usually takes 2 - 3 sessions

altho' with 1 in 20 babies there is no improvement

she is calmer tho - less pulling off the boob so that is a glimmer of hope

OP posts:
Tillyscoutsmum · 21/01/2010 09:14

Its good it seems to be doing something. I suppose your dd will be in a natural 2 hour waking rhythm so may take a little bit of time to get out of that ??

Hope it gets better for you (and me ! DS still doing 1 hour wake ups atm )

rubyslippers · 21/01/2010 10:48

i guess her sleeping pattern is messed up

1 hour wake ups are hideous - i really feel for you

OP posts:
Tillyscoutsmum · 24/01/2010 11:31

Any improvement ruby ??

cocolepew · 24/01/2010 11:34

It can be horrendous after the first visit, you should, hopefully, notice a difference after the next one.
