So today he ate about 3 mouthfuls of weetabix, then we took DD to nursery. We got back and I thought he must surely be hungry so fed him some instant super porridge, which he ate all up. Then off to bed, up for lunch which was butternut squasha and carrot mush with some leftover lentil roast mashed up in it, ate 3 mouthfuls then refused. I made it a bit runnier as think poss sore throat/is sounding chesty (but can't get to docs as car gone in for MOT...it might be some time) and he ate 3 more mouthfuls (is 3 the magic number??? I had beans on toast, gave him some mashed up beans (salt overload?) ate a bit of toast (no sore throat??) Now in bed again.
Any ideas? Or inspirational thoughts/suggestions?

Ta.

stop worrying

keep giving him bf/ff on demand

a lot of children don't really get to grips with solids till they;re closer to 12m anyway

he ate the toast - how is he with finger food? he migth just be fed up with spoons and mush and eager to feed himself

I wondered that about the spoon thing, but he makes such a blinkin mess. I gave him the spoon yesterday with some fish pie and it was messy...but now I think about it, when I rolled it into balls he was more into it... The carpet is totally trashed anyway, so what the heck. Think I was a bit like this with DD but assumed that because both DP and myself and DD are all massive eaters, he would be too.
Will now have to get suggestions for finger food which doesn't involved too much toast or bananas...

Thanks Mrs B!

no worries
get a cheapy shower curtain to protect the carpet
and some long-sleeved bibs (I found SillyBillyz were the best as they dried fastest so I only needed a few)

and as you found with the fish pie, anythign can be finger food - that lentil bake would be fab, just cut it into lumps rather than mushing it up.

spread the leftover purees from the freezer on toast or ricecakes and jsut give veg cooked.

mini shredded wheats (sploshed with milk to soften) are good for breakfats - no added salt

Have a look at aitch's blog here for finger food ideas, but dd mostly had leftovers...

And so he was good, steamed veg + toast (is there such a thing as too much toast??? Not for me heh heh heh!) tea was fish, beans and squash, some squashed everywhere and this was all good. Then at bedtime I felt in his mouth and found the sharp, pointy thing which will become his first tooth! Its amazing that I seem to have forgotten all of this, and only 3 years ago Thanks lots again!
