Boys in pink pyjamas?

My gorgeous (and quite butch) little boy has his heart set on some pink pyjamas. I would quite like to indulge him; if you can't wear pink pyjamas when you are 2 then when?! He is also obsessed with Daphne and Velma from Scooby Doo so imagine my delight when I saw these
but am I silly for wishing they were a little bit less, well - girly?!

Hes small, pink is a colour thats all - indulge him - they are pjs thats all.

Doodlez · 15/01/2010 22:43

THELMA!

Greedygirl · 15/01/2010 22:46

Doodlez - no it is definately Velma! I have read his shockingly boring Scooby album 10 trillion times. I always thought it was Thelma too!

Nickschick - I know in my heart you are right. Perhaps it is the thought of DH's face when he sees what I have bought!

Definitely. Whoops.

Noooooooooooo -

It.

Can't.

Be.

It's not a real name!!!!!

Greedygirl · 15/01/2010 22:50

And Thelma is?! I know, I thought it was a typo to begin with. Ridiculous. I am sorry to have been the one to break the news to you!

Velma

alarkaspree · 15/01/2010 22:51

But think of your ds's face when he sees them...

You definitely should.

My ds wears quite a few pink things that dd has outgrown. Mostly pants but also a fetching pair of pink flowery pyjama bottoms that he has worn several times to get dd from school. Dh is unfazed by it all. I know it's a bit different because I didn't buy them specifically for him but why not?

Doodlez · 15/01/2010 22:53

It's bloody outrageous, that's what it is!

I feel all at sea now! It's Thelma in my head, forever.

TheCrackFox · 15/01/2010 22:57

Buy the PJs, they are nice. Who cares if they are girly?

I have to say I am shocked by Velmagate.

secretgardin · 15/01/2010 22:57

my dd inherited her brothers' old choo choo pajamas and loves them to bits, so let him have the pjs'. they are bright and cheerful and as pink was a boys colour originally, why not. yes, it is velma ds went through a scooby doo phase (i'm still a fan) and was gutted when he changed to spongebob

Greedygirl · 15/01/2010 22:59

It has to be done doesn't it? I am going to get them.

Doodlez - my son would disagree too; he calls her Delma. We can't be the only ones who thought she was a Thelma. Those pesky kids need to pronounce their Vs!

Yes to pink PJS. my 3 yr old ds has pink fleece trews ( and purple ones too) as his current favourite trousers. they look fab teamed up with a black T-shirt or a Purple football shirt.
He likes bright colours and I indulge it.

Cazzr · 15/01/2010 23:06

Go for it, i say. It'll be a giggle.

My ds (3.5) is a definite 'boy' boy, loves trucks, diggers cars etc. However my best memory is arriving to pick him up from the childminder to find him dressed up as a princess. His choice! He loves it, tho DH was a bit unsure about it all.

He is a moth to a flame with pink things, especially shoes, and I know if I resisted, he'd be much more fixated. (He hasn't got pink shoes btw as they didn't have them in his size..)

RosieSunshine · 20/01/2010 20:33

Bless him, get them, he'll love them.

I remember reading somewhere that pink used to be considered a perfectly decent manly colour, it's only recently it's been girly.

But Velma? Yet another thing I turn out to have been wrong about all my life

verybusyspider · 20/01/2010 21:41

do it, my 3.5yr old loves all things pink, we have pink cups and toothbrushes and he too gravitates towards the pink sparkley shoes in the dressing up box, I even got him some for our dressing up clothes at home, he refuses to wear them, I got wedges he wanted 'clippy cloppy' shoes I completely understand you wishing things would be a little less full on 'girly' ds2 is just 2 and loves pepper pig, wish they did more boys pepper pig clothes!

MamaChris · 20/01/2010 21:59

Go for it. Nothing wrong in pink for a boy, I say, if he enjoys wearing them.

coldtits · 20/01/2010 22:12

The one thing I have always deeply regretted about ds1's preschool years is that I did not buy him these when he asked me for them
