Stupid question..... when and how do I go about cleaning ds' willy?

Fell really dumb for asking this but ds is now 2.6 and all my friend's say that around this age they started to wash their little boy's willies in the bath by pulling the skin back. The problem is I am paranoid I am going to hurt him or do more harm than good. Can any one advise me when to do it and is here any particular method?? So sorry to sound thick but I am a bit clueless where this is concerned... I guess I kind of thought it was self cleaning til they are much older! [blush}

er .... who are your friends

it is self cleaning and there is no need to start pulling the foreskin back. DS is 3.3 years and I dont retract his - if he wants it doing he can do it himself!! From babycentre:

For babies, it's best to avoid bubble baths, as they can be drying and irritating to penile tissue. And when bathing your son, it isn't necessary to retract his foreskin. Actually, you won't be able to for several months or even years - it takes that long for the foreskin to separate from the penis. Even when the foreskin has separated and can be retracted safely, the best advice is simply to leave it alone. You may do more harm than good by interfering with its self-cleaning mechanism.

Ahhh thank you! I thought that was the case but all of my friends have said how they were cleaning their ds' for them by 2.5... in fact one of my friend's whose ds is 3.5 is going to have his freed off when he's 4 because it still isn't moving???? I will leave well alone though... thank you
