How do I do this painlessly?

Any tips? They go to bed at 6pm so have been up there for 20 minutes being VERY loud, usually fast asleep by now!

They're in a temporary room until tomorrow when their new bedroom is finished, I'll probably try and stagger bedtime once they're settled in.

They're 23mo and nearly 4yo.

My 2 older boys 6 and 2.11 share a room and have done for a year. DS2 used to go bed first but now wants to wait up for his brother.

Now we are back at school I am going to start putting then back in bed at 7 because if they do muck around for 30 minutes there's no harm done they still get a good nights sleep.

Normally they do go straight sleep but if they are in giddy moods they can muck about up there and sometimes I would find myself constantly going up and telling them to 'shut up' which kept them awake longer.

I find now if I ignore them they usually fall asleep a lot quicker.

I find it sweet when I go upstairs and find them tucked up in bed together.

Good luck with it.

I moved my 11 month old into the room with his sister who is 2 years old and thought "Oh my gosh, this is going to be a nightmare". But actually it's been fine.

As we live in a 2 bed flat, I was desperate to have my bedroom back to myself and hubby.

I told the 2 year old that they were going to share a room like Peppa Pig and George (as I thought she'd get that) she loves that programme right now.

Like Keawyed, they do sometimes giggle about but usually drop off together within 30 mins. If the 12 month old does wake due to teeth, my daughter doesn't even stir anymore, she's used to it already. In the early days I'd just say, "don't worry, go back to sleep".

It'll take them a couple of weeks to really get used to it, but I am sure it will be fine. I know they're slightly different ages but you maybe surprised how well it works after the initial settling in period x

They've finally fallen asleep!

Hopefully tomorrow will be easier, they'll be in proper beds not mattresses on the floor.

I ignored them as much as I could with an occasional bellow up the stairs.

Brilliant.

I think even if we had bedrooms for each they would still share!!

Brilliant! Fingers crossed for tomorrow x
