23 month old still having a bottle morning and night

My DS still gets a bottle of formula milk (the toddler one) in the morning and at night.

While I'm not so worried about him having one in the evening (I assume this stops around the same time he would be expected to go dry through the night), we usually give him one between 5.30-6.00 am - and he normally goes back to sleep til around 7.

What age do they normally stop wanting a bottle in the morning - or when can they do without it?

Bumper same here Blush DS has a bottle every night before bed, and when DH gets him up in the morning on weekends/days off. If I get him up he has his milk in a beaker. AND, DH has only recently stopped warming it in the morning (he didn't need it, I was giving it cold) but still has it warm at night, just for the comforting effect more than anything.

Also, his morning bottle is given with breakfast, so my advice to OP would be to try to give the bottle later and later over a few weeks, to bring it in line with breakfast Smile HTH

Oh also, aren't children supposed to drink whole milk until 5/6?

I feel better that others have secret bottle drinkers! I can't really think how we weaned off the morning bottle. Just did the whole 'big girl having milk in a big girl's cup' type thing. It's easy to forget they are still just little.

DS had milk in a bottle at night until he was about 2.6. One day the bottle all broke and he had to have it in a beaker.

It won't do any harm. DS is now nearly five and just has a water bottle next to his bed at night in case he's thirsty.

Whole milk until 2, semi skimmed fine from then on.

OP - Don't fall for the super duper iron and vitamin level rubbish the toddler milk manufacturers fill you with either, as long as your DS is eating a varied diet (unlike jellybeans DC) he won't need it.

Thanks flisspaps , no idea where I got that info from then! Probably the loon HV I had for a while when DS was a baby Confused

DD (16 months) now only has milk at bedtime. I wanted her off the bottle so tried a cup but she didn't want it and would scream. Instead of carrying on with the bottle I cut the morning one out and gave her more on her cereal. The milk she has at bedtime she has from a straw as she still won't have it from a sippy cup. She would rather an open cup but at bedtime it's too messy!!
