My 10yo goes to bed about 8.30 as a rule.

He is the oldest of my 3 but the hardest to get up so it should be earlier really (impossible tho with things like Cubs).

My girls age 13 and 14 are usually ready for bed between 9 and 10 and lights usually go out at 10ish on school nights and nearer 11 on other nights. They tend to sort themselves out.

my younger children age 4 and 7 are both gone by 8 on every night as we pay the next day if theyre tired.
At age 10 I would say between 8 and 9 is reasonable on school nights and 9ish on the weekend.

By 9 for younger one on school nights and maybe half hour later at weekends.I would try to get older one to bed by 10-10.30 unless it is a special occasion.

I would say 9 for the younger one and 10 for the older one.

weekends/holidays I would still say the same tbh. Routine is good with sleep, imo. Obviously if you're away on holiday or having a night out or there's something specific on telly, I would make exceptions but I would largely keep to same times.

My 13-nearly-14 year old boy goes up at 8 for a bath on schoolnights, lights out by 9 (although I know he's on his iPod for another half hour or so). He's dead to the world by half nine/ten.

Weekends- depends on his behaviour really. He needs a lot of sleep, always has done, but if he's had a good sleep the night before he stays up till about ten. Never any later. He doesn't object to these bedtimes, btw- he recognises that he needs the sleep. We are much more relaxed about it during holidays though.

He was still going up at 7.30 till he was about 12.

Weekdays 10/11 in bed for 9 and 14/15 in bed for 10. Both asleep(hopefully) within about half an hour.

Half an hour extra for 10/11 at the weekend and maybe an hour extra 14/15.

All depends what time they have to be up though and how much sleep they, personally, need.

thanks, dh seems to think dsd who is 14 should be allowed to stay up until gone midnight.... both dh and dsd would happily stay in bed until lunchtime though... Ds goes up half eight, lights out at nine and typically wakes around 7am.... Two conflicting ideas between me and dh, I think dsd should be up ten/half past at the latest but dh thinks I'm being unreasonable.... Says that dsd is a night owl like him... I point out that if they stay on bed until lunch its not proper night owl/insomnia but crap sleep patterns!
