As above really. Ds is 9 mo but very keen to feed himself. What do you do??? So far he grabs the spoon puts it in his mouth but twists and the food falls off! It's messy! :-)

Select stickier foods and also do finger foods.

We also went through the phase of using two spoons - one for DD to 'feed' herself and one for us to actually feed her with. We would let her do the last bit on her own. She was amazingly pleased with herself when she managed to get the slightest amount in but it improves over time - at 1y 4 mths she ould reliably feed herself soups. Plastic bibs/smocks are a blessing

We did the two-spoon thing too. When it came to forks, our dd insisted on holding them herself, but allowed me to guide her to a piece of pasta/other small piece of food. She's now pretty good with both....

doing all right for 9 month old then. Its just practise practise practise from here on.

Boy went through a phase at 18 month ish where he would hold spoon in one hand, pick item of food up with fingers, place it on spoon, move spoon to near face, pick item off spoon with fingers and place in his mouth. Time consuming, but good practise for something.
