Normal behaviour ? Very "busy" 15 month old boy

DS is 15 months old and is ver active.
He is either fully "on" or fast asleep. When he is awake he runs, climbs, jumps everywhere. Opening cupboards and throwing things out. Climbs in and out of bath, throws things down loo, jumps on bed etc. He is very active, and defies a lot of baby proofing (he has worked out how to open stair gate) and chatters away to himself and anyone who'll listen most of the time (no real words yet though). He has recently started yelling and pointing at things on shelves etc out of reach and having a few tantrums.

We can not get him to sit still and play quitely for more than a couple of minutes. As for sitting still to watch TV - not at all. Not even 2 mins of ITNG, which all my friends of similar age children swear by.

His nurery workers say that he is the busiest child they have known!

I joke that DS is like a Spaniel and needs a good hours exercise everyday.

I think that this is normal behaviour for a growing 15 month old boy, and is a combination of "boyness" (tetosterone yet?) and frustration at not being able to make himself understood first time (I am trying to do some signing with him to help this).

DH thinks he might have some of ADHD condition.

Is it normal behaviour in a 15 month old boy?

Totally normal. My personal experience has been that every child goes through certain periods when the parents are tearing their hair out owing to completely crazy child behaviour. Then one day you realise it has stopped and you're breathing/brushing your hair/occasionally drinking a cup of tea in peace again.

My DS wouldn't watch anything at that stage and ITNG caused uncontrollable woe.

Sounds like my DS who is also 15 months. I think it is normal boy behaviour.

We bought him a mini trampoline (he is yet to really master it, but am hoping it will prove invaluable for those rainy days!). Otherwise, we do a lot of trips to the park and to soft play centres where he can jump/climb all he wants.

We also got him some mega bloks in the hope that he may sit and play for 5 mins...at the moment though it is far more fun to tip the contents of the box on the floor!!

My DH joked that we need a dog walker to take him out and give him a good run every day!

However, we have mastered ITNG - it has taken 5 months of sitting with him and waving at the characters etc, but now he will have his night bottle lying on our bed watching it (for about 10 mins max!!).

It is exhausting and I do sympathise. I have number 2 on the way so am feeling the tiredness!!!

Thank you everyone. I think I am more aware of what is normal for DS as I spend more time with him than DH does. However, I have to work this week, and DS and DH are at soft play for the second time in as many days.

Frazzles - yes, that's how DS plays with his Megablocks too. Hope you have a nice quiet girl next time! Big respect for being pg and having a 15 month DS too. Brave lady!

We got DH this this for Christmas, which gives us about 2.5 mins peace once or twice a day
