Tog rating on Grobag

Not sure if this is the right place to post this question sorry !

My DD sleeps in a grobag, average temperature of room is 19 degrees (it is difficult to get it cooler in her room as we live in a well insulated new house). She wears a short sleeved vest and a babygrag and the ow under the grobag which is 1.5 tog. When I go get her in the morning her little hands are freezing and her feet are cold to the touch when I unzip the sleeping bag. Am I doing something wrong ? I am paranoid about the room being to hot but she seems to be cold in the mornings.

Advise please ?

it's normal for their hands to be feezing IME if she is too cold she will wake up, being too warm is a much more dangerous situation. It does sound fine to me.

My ds2 (6mth) sleeps in our room which is around 18-19 degrees. He has a 2.5tog grobag a long sleeve vest and pj's or a babygro. His hands get cold but it doesn't bother him. His feet are sometimes cold but it doesn't bother him.

Personally i would get a 2.5 tog grobag and adjust her clothes to the temp.

thanks SleighGirl I am paranoid about her being too hot. She must be happy then as she sleeps 12 hours straight through without waking.

Then again if she's sleeping that long

BarbieLovesKen · 29/12/2009 22:27

2.5 tog is for round the year
1.5 tog is for summer months
0.5 tog is for very hot climates or holidays in sun

I'd get a 2.5 to be honest.

SleighGirl · 29/12/2009 22:30

But it depends on how warm the room is, in some houses average room temp in the winter is more like 10 degrees!!!!!

Live dangerously and put a pair of socks on her?

BarbieLovesKen · 29/12/2009 22:33

Good point SleighGirl - those tog ratings are for a room of average 18 degrees

daisydora · 29/12/2009 22:35

ds wears thee same, average temp in his room at night is 15 degrees. But I have him in a 2.5 tog bag. I think the hands do get cold anyway IME

SleighGirl · 29/12/2009 22:39

She sleeps 12 hours, why change it? You could put a sheet over - that would be about 0.5 tog I think?

NickeeS · 29/12/2009 22:43

we do leave our heating on all night however the radiators are off upstairs apart from DD's room where it is on low with the door open. Her room is the coldest in the house. Maybe I will try socks tomorrow night and get 2.5 tog at the weekend..could always leave off her vest. Thanks for all you replys

if you leave the radiator on then I would leave it as it is, if she starts waking because she is cold buy one then.

Phoenix · 29/12/2009 22:48

Have you seen the grobag 'what to wear' chart?

NickeeS · 29/12/2009 22:48

Yeap she sleeps 12 hours right through at 15 weeks (has done since 10 weeks) Just not iced how cold her hands were over the last 10 days during the cold snap. SleighGirl she hates sheets or blankets over her and wriggles until they are off her, little minx, she turned 45 degrees last night getting away from a blanket.

SleighGirl I think I will leave as is but just put a pair of socks on her.
Thanks

could you put on a long sleeved bodysuit instead of the sleeveless one?

NickeeS · 29/12/2009 22:57

That makes sense SleighGirl as that would only effect her arms and not her whole body. Thanks
