my dd 22mo tea time is at 5 pm and dinner time is at 7pm but since the gap is not that long she hates to have her dinner but she goes to bed by 8. any suggestions of what to serve her for tea so that she's hungry by 7.

Does she need tea and dinner too? DS has only ever had dinner at 5pm, then a bottle of milk before bed and that does him till morning. This has been the pattern since about 8 months and he's 2.2 now.

Is the dinner at 7pm a family dinner? Can you not just make it a bit earlier for your DD and give her a snack mid afternoon to keep her going?

This doesn't really answer your question, but does she need tea and dinner? It seems like a lot of food quite late in the day. My 23 mo has tea at around 5 and is in bed by 7.30, all she has after tea is a cup of milk with her stories when I put her to bed. She doesn't seem to need more.

Ha sorry x-post but great minds seem to think alike .

I would drop one of those meals, maybe feed her at 5.30pm.

Yes, I'd say dinner at 5- ish, then maybe cereal if she's hungry later, certainly milk

Yes, agree with the others. Seems strange to give her tea and dinner. Do you have both? Does she have lunch? My dd has breakfast around 8ish, lunch between 12 and 1.30 depending on naps, and dinner at 5.30ish, that's it.

Is she having 4 meals a day at the moment? I agree that you should think about dropping one. My DD (21 months) has breakfast at 7, snack at 10, lunch at 12, snack at 3 and tea at 5.30 then milk before bed. We usually just give fruit or sometimes an oatcake/rice cake for snacks so that she's hungry enough to finish her meals.
