10 mo blows raspberries when feeding.....

As the title says, when I feed my 10 m/o his breakfast / dinner / whatever he sometimes takes a moutful of food and will then proceed to blow a big raspberry at me showering me with mash of some description. I don't think its because he doesnt like what I am giving him and he is hungry so cant be that.

Is this normal and what do I do, let it be or do I try and discourage it or what??

Just ignore it. It will go away he is just finding out what happens when he does these things.
IT's perfectly normal both of mine took great pleasure in showering me in food on a regular basis generally just after I had put on clean clothes or got dressed in the morning.

DS even thought it was hilarious to do it while breastfeeding and believe me that made bf out and about quite conspicuous when followed by his giggles at the shoer of breast milk over everyone within a 5 metre radius.

mine DD the same age is doing exactly the same and its driving me demented even though i know its a developmental thing and i should just grin and bear it. I find it worse with more lumpy foods (but reluctant to go back to smoother stuff as i know she can eat it) and towards the end of meals (i guess when she's less hungry).

Be interested to know how long it went on for others, it would make me feel better if i knew it wasn't going to be for too long.

Also did other people ignore it or say no, i've tried both and clearly neither has worked so far but its not consistent to do both i realise.

Sorry to hijack!

Thanks for the replies, I just wasn't sure if it was something you needed to try and stop or just let it carry on until he grows out of it. Am considering getting myself a plastic shower mac.

plastic shower mac and ignore it does pass and if there is no reaction it stops faster.
My 2 at that age even with no used to laugh at me because all they were seeing was me with a funny face on lavbeshing them with attention for their new trick.

None of these things last for long although they seem forever at the time and in a month or 2 you will barely remember it until someone posts on here about it and you think ooohh yeah mine did that too.

My DS is 8mo and does this too! I find the best way to stop him (most of the time) is to distract him, then he just eats it rather than showering everyone in gunk.

I use a combination of giving him his own spoon to hold and singing 'Old MacDonald Had a Farm'(me obviously, not him! )
