Well my dd (1 year) hates her helmet and screams every time I put it on...may be because she is a monster baby and has ten chins and when I do up her helmet I always trap some of her skin in it ...and last week she had a big bruise under her chin from where her skin was trapped (maybe I should put this in the bad mother thread!!!)

codswallop · 05/06/2003 16:10

have done this too by mistake - but he still loves it. takes it to bedroom at night too

It's a phase. Roll with it! Have to confess, I'm entertained by it too! Sorry.

codswallop · 05/06/2003 18:48

I must say I managed to prize (?SP) it off his head at playgroup this am and then spent the whole session peering around trying to find him as he had no red helmet on...GRRR (laughing hopelessly)

My brother used to insist on taking his wellies to bed (no he didn't wet the bed).

Gizmo · 06/06/2003 22:30

Have you tried dressing it up with another hat Codswallop? Either a) it will look cute and then you won't mind or b) it will look silly and maybe he won't want it any more.

Still, at least you don't have to worry about falling down the stairs for a while!

iota · 06/06/2003 22:39

Too right Gizmo _ I toyed with the idea of making ds2 wear a helmet all the time as he was so dangerous (to himself). I was scared to take him out in case he was taken away by social services.

codswallop · 09/06/2003 10:06

lol at all your comments!!glad you all take peasure in my situation!

Know it wilkl pass - other boys phases spring to mind...itts just so big and red!!

My ds2 is insisting on wearing his winter hat every time we go and get his brother from nursery. Shorts, t-shirt, sandals and...woolly hat! Makes him so hot he gets sweaty hair but can I prise him out of it?! The only day he hasn't worn it in the last couple of weeks is when he decided to wear a plastic fireman hat instead. I just go with the flow, it's not worth a fight IMO

Hilary · 11/06/2003 20:13

ps he is also 2 1/2

codswallop · 11/06/2003 21:09

thanks H yes I suppose it could be worse.. my outward opiniom is all chilled but really I hate it!!

Today ds2 aged three wore a furry elephant headdress thing all afternoon, inside and out.By the time we took it off his hair was soaked. Luckily its only occasional.

codswallop · 13/06/2003 19:07

You taunt me soya

OP posts:
soyabean · 14/06/2003 15:27

Not taunting, honest! Just empathising! In the long term bike helmet or elephant headgear wd be equally frustrating I guess.

codswallop · 14/06/2003 19:58

just kidding

ROFL!

Sorry Coddy.... but this makes me laugh every time I think about it!

Karensara · 05/11/2003 19:33

When my boy was the same age, he was addicted to his Bob the Builder helmet, he wore it all day every day everywhere! It was the first thing he put on in the morning and the last thing he took off at night. At bathtime he wore it unless it was hairwashing. The other children thought his name was Bob and he actually had a party invitation addressed to Bob! All the photos of him at that time (for about 6 months!) are of him wearing the helmet. He only stopped wearing it when he discovered Buzz Lightyear! Now he's into Harry Potter and and that will last until the next big thing!

SoupDragon · 05/11/2003 22:22

Snigger

throckenholt · 06/11/2003 07:46

My friend's boy wore his solidly for 2 days when he first got his at the age of 2 - even slept in it !
