my ds started pre school this nov and he likes it there and always wants to go- he goes for 3 mornings a week. Its just that since starting he is a different child- slapping, kicking, screaming, throwing food, chewing and spitting it out, eating with fingers etc etc. his teacher said just to be patient with him which i must admit i find hard as he has become aggressive with me and dd1.
His new thing is not speaking properly and stuttering/ being incoherent and using squeaking to communicate. he has been talking since 17 months and has always been fluent, coherent with us and others. its driving me and dh mad and we don;t know whether to ignore it or pull him up and insist he speaks properly.
he is also complaining about another boy at school who slaps and kicks and screams at him, and didn;t want to go today.

i seem to spend all day saying no and putting him in time out and we used to have such a happy time together. i feel such a bad mother. is this normal? what should I do?

DD went through a phase of nonverbal communication, babbling nonsense words. Her kindergarten teacher said it was not uncommon, to do with speech development.

With DD they were singing and making up songs, nonsense rhymes etc. DD did not have the vocabulary to make up rhymes so would substitute blablabla.

We were advised to ignore it, except if she were actually asking for something, eg. if she wanted the butter then she had to ask for the butter.

She stammers and stutters a bit too and the teacher advised taking time to speak to her. Take her hand and give her full attention.

Is he screaming and kicking in preschool too, or just at home?

he talks normally at school! and acts up at home, so in a way that's ok. his teacher said not to wory about it and be patient with him. he didn;t do it today, forgot I guess....
