He likes to throw all his bedding off his bed and roll his head and upper body up and down the bed. (Not sure how well I'm explaining this).

My parents have a long draft excluder which he'll move into the middle of the room and do the same thing on the floor. He can do it for ages, usually needs to be distracted for him to stop.

Anyway a friend has recently witnessed it and has expressed concern, apparently it's not normal?

Any experience or thoughts?

I have no idea if you should be worried or not. Children often pick up habit of body movements, twitches, stroking their faces, coughs.... all sorts of things and most of the time they are nothing to worry about at all. I don't think you are likely to get a diffinitive answer on here and now that your friend has expressed concern I think its going to niggle at you. As your son is under 4 it would be perfectly appropriate to speak with your HV, even invite her over to witness his behaviour. I know HVs get bad press on here from time to time but they can be very helpful, and if you are not happy with the response from the HV for any reason then you can still speak to yr gp.

Does your ds go to nursery at all or school? Have they witnessed the behaviour? if so speak with them 1st. They may be able to give you insight..

Hi! Sorry am confused is this his bed time routine?? Or when he's messing he rolls about like a mad thing? If its his part of his bed time routine ya need to cut it out... He should be winding down read a story with him etc its tot normal for an energetic child to roll around messin etc does he get plenty of chances to burn off some of his energy? Hav ya asked him why he likes doin it or joined in makin a game?? Sorry loads of questions but maybe someone wit more answers will be along soon...

Thanks both.

No he doesn't do it at bedtime, just sometimes during the day. He doesn't do it at preschool either.
