Sitting up in cot & unable to lie self back down!

Wondered if anyone could lend their experiences of this and how they went about teaching LO to lay back down themselves.

DD has recently starting sitting herself up in bed (10 months) and for the last few nights has sat herself up several times and got in a right tiss as can't lay back down and go back to sleep. If laid back down will go back to sleep after a few whimpers.

Am lucky is generally a very good sleeper, but obviously she needs to learn to lay back down again.

Any hints/ experiences would be greatly appreciated!

I had this with my eldest when he started pulling up to standing in the cot. I would just continue to lay her down gently yourself with no fuss. She will soon learn to lie down herself or maybe stop sitting up in the first place as long as there's no reward.

With my son, it didn't last more than a couple of weeks. Good luck!

This was me a month ago! There's not much you can do but go back and lie them down with as little fuss as possible. (We did spend a while trying to show DS how to do it, but he just watched us in bemusement!) It probably won't last more than 2-3 weeks.

DS eventually started going back into a crawl position and then flopping down onto his front. He now seems to only sleep on his front, despite never having done so before the sitting up started.

My DS now two, did this when he could first sit up and we used to find him in the morning curled over his legs fast asleep!!! It only lasted a little while though so we used to check on him a few times a night and lie him back down!

Thanks all for your responses.

Chocolate calculator, DD has like your DS been looking at me totally confused.

Put her into her cot sitting up tonight and popped her bunny just out of reach and she sort of launched herself to laying down. With any luck she'll do that at night now too!

Glad to hear we aren't the only ones this is happening to! Thanks.
